It is not easy to write a short and meaningful “biography”. There are still many people who do not know our website yet and do not know who is behind it.
So I would like to introduce myself a little, so you know who you are buying from. And maybe even our regular customers will learn something new about me.
So I decided to write 10 things about myself.
My name is Paulína and the shop www.vlnanapredaj.sk has been here for you since 2013. Our brick-and-mortar shop on Vajnorská has been open since 2014.
I have 3 children. It is intense. Brutal, actually! Especially when grandparents and the rest of the family live hours away by car, and my husband — although very tolerant and not demanding in any special way — is busy with work. I try to talk everyone around me out of having three children. 🙊
I go running. I really, really do not feel like it. But I go. A lot. The bigger the “children-induced crisis”, the more kilometres I run.
I try to eat healthily so that I can stay healthy and slim. Slim mainly so I can knit size S sweaters — they are quicker to finish and use less yarn. 🙈
Despite point number 4, I am very impatient when knitting. That is why many of my sweaters have slightly shorter sleeves. I simply do not knit them to the proper length because I want them finished right away.
The 2020/2021 season was the first one when you could regularly meet me in the shop — every Monday. Until then, I had mostly been behind the scenes, working from home behind a computer while taking care of the children.
I think I cook well. My family, however, does not appreciate it nearly enough. 😅
I cry a lot. Even over tiny things. I cannot really control it, and sometimes it annoys me too.
When people ask me to knit a sweater for them, I first say yes to everything. And then I get annoyed at home when I do not feel like doing it, or when I realise I have once again taken on more than I should have.
I have never properly knitted and washed a gauge swatch before starting a project. I mean a proper 10 × 10 cm swatch, as it should be done. Sometimes I do knit something that could be called a swatch, but it is usually closer to 4 × 2 cm. And then, of course, I complain when the size does not come out right.
That is me. And that is exactly what our shop is like too — a little practical, a little chaotic, very personal, and above all full of yarn, colours, and people who love knitting.
