Rauma Garn
The Rauma Garn company was founded in 1927 in a small textile workshop at the mouth of the Rauma River in the town of Veblungsnes on the west coast of Norway. It started in an old fishing port with only three employees, but thanks to determination and honest work, it gradually grew into a modern production plant. To this day, it remains a family business run by the Digernes family. Production is still located in the original location, surrounded by fjords and mountains, which symbolize strong roots, tradition and connection with Norwegian nature.
Rauma Garn's values are closely linked to quality, sustainability and local production. The company is based on the fact that the entire process - from washing and carding wool, through spinning and dyeing to packaging - takes place in their own factory. They use the wool of Norwegian sheep, which live in a clean, cold environment and thus provide strong and durable fibers. Rauma Garn strives for a minimal ecological impact, uses renewable energy sources and ecological procedures in the processing of raw materials. Emphasis is also placed on preserving the craft tradition and selling experience from generation to generation.
Rauma Garn offers several popular types of yarn. Finull is a classic 100% Norwegian wool, known for its flexibility, durability and beautiful structure, ideal for traditional Norwegian sweaters, hats or gloves - it holds its shape well and is excellent for multi-colored patterns (colourwork). Vams is a thicker yarn made of 100% Norwegian wool, soft and warm, suitable for quick projects such as sweaters, jackets or accessories that should provide maximum comfort and warmth. Alpaka Lin is a blend of fine alpaca and linen, combining natural shine and drape with lightness and breathability - ideal for summer tops, scarves or elegant pieces with a natural texture. All these yarns bear the typical signature of Rauma Garn – a combination of tradition, quality and respect for nature.
