Wool for Felting and Spinning
Choose wool for felting and spinning to suit your technique and the result you want to achieve. Our range includes natural and hand-dyed wool tops, carded wool, roving and fiber blends. Combed wool top consists of aligned fibers formed into a continuous length, suitable for hand spinning, wet felting and needle felting.
Each type of wool has its own fineness, elasticity and character. Merino is soft, blends easily and works well for smooth and delicate projects. Corriedale is a versatile wool that is easy to use for both spinning and felting. Shetland, Jacob, Rambouillet, Zwartbles and other breeds offer different textures and naturally beautiful shades. Blends containing silk, bamboo or mohair add sheen, softness and visual interest.
For needle felting, you will need suitable wool, needles and a mat, which you can find under felting and spinning accessories. Wet felting uses water, soap and friction to bind the fibers together. To create your own yarn, choose a suitable wool top or roving and a drop spindle. Colored fiber packs and blends can be combined to create your own shades, textures and effects.
